It is proud to say that Government College, Kadapa first located at Zillaparishad Building, Kadapa in 1948. Later, Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri C. Rajagopala Chari laid foundation stone on 14th June 1952 for the present existing structure and after the construction under the name Government Arts College, Kadapa was opened by Lt. Col. Diwan Bahadur, Sir A. Lakshmanaswami Mudaliar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Madras on 4th February 1955 as a composite college with Intermediate and conventional degree courses-B.A., B.Com., and B.Sc. However, in 1958, it offered courses with various combinations. Later, it was renamed as ‘Government College for Men’. In 1996 it was bifurcated with independent charges into Intermediate and Graduation.
Ever since, considerable changes have been taking place in ameliorating the standards of the degree courses. As per the instructions of the C.C.E, restructured courses i.e. ’need-based’ courses have been introduced to cater to the needs of the stakeholders to face the modern competitive world. To that extent, ’Sumabala Computer lab’ has been established. Besides, for the effectiveness, manifold facilities have been provided for the students.
