Anti-Ragging Policy

Our Commitment

The College is committed to implementation of all the provisions of the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009 and also the guidelines issued by the relevant bodies from time to time.

Any incidence of ragging shall be dealt with strictly according to the provisions of the said guidelines and any other statutes in force.

Our Pledge

We, the Students, Scholars, Teaching and Administrative staff of this college firmly resolve to take a pledge today that we withstand united in making this College "Ragging Free" College and We will not involve in ragging either in deed, action and thought in our personal lives. We will promote fraternity and brotherhood with dignity to make this College a "Ragging Free" College.

What Constitutes Ragging

Ragging constitutes one or more of any of the following acts:

  • Any conduct by any student which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student
  • Indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm
  • Asking any student to do any act which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment
  • Any act that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic activity of any other student
  • Exploiting the services of a fresher or any other student for completing academic tasks
  • Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden
  • Any act of physical abuse including sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, forcing obscene acts
  • Any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, post, public insults
  • Any act that affects the mental health and self-confidence of a fresher or any other student

Prevention Measures

Orientation Programs

Regular orientation programs to educate students about the consequences of ragging and promote positive interactions.

Surveillance

Adequate surveillance cameras at all vulnerable locations where there is possibility of ragging incidents.

Awareness

Hoardings and notices at various locations discouraging ragging and informing about remedies available.

Committee

Active Anti-Ragging Committee and Squad with representatives from all stakeholders including police administration.

Reporting Procedure

If any individual believes that he or she has been subjected to ragging or has knowledge of any such incident, they may:

  1. Contact the coordinator of the anti-ragging committee or any faculty member
  2. Submit a written complaint to the Principal's office
Note: It is not mandatory for the complainant to reveal their name. Complaints can be lodged anonymously.

The Anti-Ragging Committee is constituted as per UGC directions with the following members:

The committee also includes representatives from non-teaching staff, parents, local media, NGOs, and civil/police administration.

Consequences of Ragging

If ragging is established, the following punishments may be imposed:

  • Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges
  • Withholding/withdrawing scholarship and other benefits
  • Debarring from appearing in any test/examination
  • Withholding results
  • Debarring from representing the institution in any events
  • Cancellation of admission
  • Rustication from the institution for period ranging from one to two semesters
Appeals: Students awarded punishments for ragging can appeal to the Commissioner, Collegiate Education, Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh.
