About the Department

Department of Chemistry was established in 1954 with an objective of providing quality science education in the conventional areas of sciences. It is the major department in the college with 13 sanctioned posts with 650 chemistry students serving 6 chemistry combination groups(MPC,BZC,GPC,BTZC,BTBC,BCH) in chemistry undergraduate programme.The department has also dedicated ,motivated, and enthusiastic group of faculty members actively involving in both teaching and research. The department encourages the students for completion of MOOCS, certificate cources and innovative activities.The Department of Chemistry recognizes and respects individual differences and we care deeply about the educational and career development of every member of our community.The department started to conduct certificate cource on “ Hands on experience in Chem Draw” .The deparment is continuously monitoring the water quality in our college water purification units.

Facilities in the Department

Laboratories and Infrastructure

Three well equipped Laboratories facilitate students for doing regular practical work. More than 30 students can accommodate in each laboratory. The department has separate chemical store room,Analytical balance room. The department has more than 500 types of chemicals and reagents for practical and Research work.

Department Library

Department has its own Library having 600 books and these are issued to the students and faculty members. The Department of chemistry utilizing modern equipments for practical manuals, test papers, question banks, Competititive exams books and Reference books.

Instruments

The Department of chemistry utilizing modern equipmentfor practical works viz.,pHmeters, Conductometers, potentiometers, calorimeters,Viscometer ,Stalgmo meters, Beckmann Melting and Freezing point apparatus,Centrifuse, Hot Air Oven etc.

Computer Facilities

The Department has its own advanced 3 computers with 24x7 ineternet facility. In addition to internet facility In addition to internet center provides internet facility to the students.

K- yon Projector and Models

The department has K- yon Projector, teaching models and charts.

Virtual Class room

The department has virtual class room facility at room no: 47. The faculty and the students are encouraged to make use of it for better understanding of complicated topics.
