About the Department

Established in 1948, the Department of Mathematics at Govt. College for Men, Kadapa, initially offered a B.Sc. program in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry in Telugu and English mediums. Over the years, it has evolved to embrace contemporary educational trends, restructuring its curriculum to incorporate innovative combinations such as Mathematics with Physics and Computer Science, Mathematics with Statistics and Computer Science, and Mathematics with Electronics and Computer Science, all offered in English medium. In the 2023-24 academic year, the department expanded its offerings further by introducing a B.Sc. (Honours) program in Mathematics, featuring a major course in Mathematics along with a minor course that allows students to delve into specialized areas of interest.

Supported by a dedicated faculty committed to student success, the department fosters a vibrant academic environment. Despite many students coming from rural and economically disadvantaged backgrounds, they demonstrate remarkable enthusiasm for regular classes and career-oriented programs like JKC.

To enhance the learning experience, the department employs modern teaching methods that go beyond traditional lectures. Collaborating with the Computer Science department, they utilize an e-classroom for more interactive and effective teaching, incorporating tools like MANA TV and educational CDs to enrich the learning process. This commitment ensures that students are well-prepared for diverse career paths while staying aligned with the evolving demands of the education sector.
